I have been writing sporadically for as long as I remember. Fortunately for me, I've kept the majority of that work, and added to it as I've grown. In recent years though, as everyone's lives have been turned upside down or touched in one way or another by world events; it became clear to me that it was time to share all of the work and wisdom that's been gathering from within me all these years.
This project was initially a joint endeavor between a dear friend of mine and I. We were coworkers and close friends, this book was intended to be a collection of our unique experiences and journey through faith. While this friend no longer with us, and I am not able to include his work - completing this project and following through on our plans is my way of honoring that very special person. My family has been extremely integral to my development as a writer; my hope is that through my words and stories, I can allow myself to be fully transparent and authentic with the people who are touched when they read it.
As a Baltimore native, my upbringing reflected the experiences of many others during that period of time. Lemon and peppermint sticks. Walks down The Avenue. Cold cut subs from the local markets. Crabs by the bushel, and Pit Beef sandwiches were staples for us. While much has changed, much of Baltimore remains the same - the love of crabs is fundamentally ingrained. The street names are now all different, and my perspectives are too - I feel as though I'm experiencing my city from brand new eyes.
